Which Training Chopsticks do I choose?
In order to assist our SmartStix customers with choosing the right training chopsticks, we have provided you with an easy guide to our training chopsticks.
Step 1 Preschool Training Chopsticks - (Age 3-5 years)
Step 1 Preschool Training Chopsticks - (Age 3-5 years)
These training chopsticks are designed for the preschool beginners around the ages of 3 - 5 years. The recommended age on these chopsticks is listed at 3+ due to the small parts, such as the finger rings. However, 2 year olds have been known to succesfully use these training chopsticks under close supervision.
The Step 1 preschool chopsticks have a thumb ring and two other rings to guide the index and middle fingers into the correct positions. The tips of the chopsticks are flat and embossed to assist in picking up food.

These beginner chopsticks have cute characters that connect the two single chopsticks together. These attractive characters, especially designed for the preschool age, include Thomas, James and Percy from Thomas and Friends, Pororo - The Little Penguin and Petty, Pororo's friend (as seen on ABC2).
The Preschool Training Chopsticks are also available in a set with a spoon and pouch. A handy, portable set to take to restaurants or when eating away from home.

Actually, the Thomas the train chopsticks are for my friend's boys' birthdays. My daughters have been using them for about 6 months now. I have the Petty pink ones for my just turned two year old and on the first day she could eat half her meal with them.
My older daughter at 4.5 y.o. could eat 70% of her meal successfully on the first try without too much effort like other 'training chopsticks' we have tried. She has the ones that are for 5-7 y.o. without a character on top. I got left/right for my younger to see if she has a preference since it is not clear yet.
What is great about them is that they teach proper technique and don't allow for bad chopstick habits to form. It is good for manual dexterity and even the preschool teacher wanted some for the kids to use on an activity table.
I searched the globe for these Thomas ones and my friend's boys will be SO happy I am sure.
